Working with Emerson Hospital and GE (MRI manufacturer and vendor) IKM designed this outpatient satellite facility in Westford Massachusetts. The facility provided exam rooms, reading rooms, and and shielded MRI and CT rooms. The MRI room was innovative in that it was located on the building perimeter allowing views to the outside not only letting natural light in but also promoting a more soothing environment for what may be an uneasy procedure to some. Issues of radiation containment were carefully addressed in the design along with the structural integrity of the existing building to support the equipment.
