IKM planned and designed a phased renovation program that reconfigured physical and inorganic chemistry labs, computer and electronic workrooms, offices and lounges in four Main Group buildings to make better use of space and improve opportunities for interaction.
The renovations also provided for a phased upgrade of utilities, lab services and emergency systems within the historic structure.
Department headquarters, a student lounge, and shared equipment space were located in glass- fronted rooms around a skylit stairway that serves as a “town square” that connects buildings and floors.
